Costumes

I really like the costumes for the dance, they allow smooth and elegant moves while flowing around your ankles like water. They are comfortable and i'm really exited to dance in them. I like how they resemble the dance costumes in the wade in the water dance video we saw preformed the Alvin Ally people, those costumes were beautiful and simple yet they added to the dance in a special way. we haven't danced in the costumes yet but I bet when we do the dance will really come together.

Hula

What I like about the hula dance is that it tells a story through its movements and I think that makes it really special. I like that that the dance is simple and has some traditional hula movements like the starting and ending arm position and the sitting position. Before this dance i didn't really know how hula dancing worked and how in depth its meaning was and now i think its really great we get to learn about that in class and dance the traditional dance of Hawaii.

Wade in the Water

I really like the wade in the water dance because its a dance that has a really interesting history about how slaves used the song to tell others how they could escape through the river or nearby water. Also how Alvin Ally helped spread dance to other cultures. I also think the dance really represents the movements water takes in its natural form, the dance can be choppy at points but mostly its smooth and beautiful as it shows water changing. Like from ripples to small waves to splashes and larger waves than it grows choppy and with a splash its smooth again.I feel this dance is really symbolic and i cant wait to preform it.

Dance

   I love dancing because when dance at home or outside

 it just feels natural and frees me from all worry.

 I like to look around outside my house in Pennsylvania,

 at the woods and watch animals and see how light filters through the trees 

and streams flow so calmly, and let that all inspire me.

 And no matter the day type if its rainy or sunny I can always dance.

Its a way for me to release negative feelings

 or even just embrace happy ones.

Winter Arts Festivle

I think the Winter Arts Festival was very successful because all the acts preformed were very good and interesting. I really enjoyed watching them, And seeing what the different talents were doing.

Watching the Drama students play the games looked really fun and it was really funny to see how they could improvise off each others actions. And when it came time to preform our dance although the stage was a tight fit, I think we were able to make it work, so overall I think it was a good festival.

New Dance :)

I think the dance we are doing now is pretty fun and very interesting to see all the movements and single isolations, its also interesting to see what movements we use from the original dance, and what we come up with, my favorite part so far of the dance is when we all go into a sqaure and we bend and then in pairs in time with the music we snap and stand, it is a really fun dance, and I'm curious to see where it leads in the end. The choreographer for this dance is vary interesting and the video we watched showed creative movements that i think we will use, I wonder which ones we will make up and how similar our dance will be to the other classes.

Dance

I like dance because it is a break from the regular school day. After sitting in chairs all day i can look forward to dance, because it is a place where i can express myself and it feels great to complete a dance and be able to dance in a group where all the choreography plays together and looks amazing. Its also really interesting to learn all about different types of dance and people who inspired dance through time, and trying there styles of dance. Im really looking forward to dance in the future to see what new things we will learn. Also the winter arts festival in coming up and I'm curious to see how all that will play out, I bet it will be fun;)
